Diplomatic relations between Estonia and San Marino were established on 9 July 2003. San Marino’s first ambassador to Estonia Silvia Berti presented her credentials to President Toomas Hendrik Ilves on 21 February 2008. The ambassador resides in San Marino.
Estonia’s first ambassador to San Marino, Andres Tomasberg, held the position from February 2009 to August 2010, Merike Kokajev from 2010-2014 and Celia Kuningas-Saagpakk from 2014-2020.
The current ambassador Paul Teesalu presented his credentials to Captains Regent of San Marino Alessandro Cardelli and Mirko Dolcini on 20 November 2020. The ambassador resides in Rome. The current captains regent of San Marino are Alessandro Cardelli and Mirko Dolcini.
No high-level visits have taken place.
Economic relations between Estonia and San Marino are minimal. According to the data of Statistics Estonia, in 2017 San Marino was Estonia’s 143th trading partner with a turnover of about 129 000 EUR.
